Inspection and Testing

Many deaths and injuries are caused each year by unsafe electrical installations, and portable appliances.
Devon Building Services offers a testing service in accordance with the NICEIC 17th Edition Regulations and the HSE guidelines.

Periodic Inspection Report (PIR)

This is a comprehensive test of the integrity of the basic fixed electrical installation, and should be carried out at frequent intervals determined by the usage of the building. ie:-

• Caravan parks, Swimming pools.   1 Year
• Places of Public entertainment.   3 Years
• Domestic and Commercial buildings.  5 Years

This test will reveal any potential hazards likely to cause electric shock or fire and it will highlight any deficiencies in DIY installations.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT Testing)

This checks all "plug in" type appliances for correct electrical protection, serviceability and suitability for use.
This is also usage dependent between one and three years.

Written reports are issued on completion of the above tests.
